Keelan James is a poet in the Greek sense of the word, which means that he makes things.

Poetry, short stories, novels, criticism, for him it all amounts to the same making, the same working over of the materials of mind until they resemble his mindset like a confession, like a realization.

Graduating from Bard College at Simon’s Rock with a Classics degree, he spent the next 15 years working weekends as a gig musician so that he could afford to give his weeks to an unbroken regimen of literary autodidacticism. He’s been published in the poetry journal Danse Macabre and is an active contributor to a growing underground poetry scene on Instagram and Zoom. He’s the author of the novel “Long Beach”, the poetry chapbook “Gleamings” and is currently working on a collection of critical and personal essays. When he isn’t working on literature, he can be found forest-walking near his house on Long Island, or drinking coffee on the beach.
